Sanders Brogues for Men

Broguing is the punched pattern along the seams and toe cap of the upper. The more punching, the less formal the shoe. Sanders covers the whole scale, from office shoes to country boots.

Semi and half brogues

These sit closest to a plain Oxford and are the ones to wear with a suit. The Guildford semi brogue comes in brown calf and black calf, both H fit. The Moorgate half brogue comes in black calf or dark brown pinner suede.

Full brogues and wingtips

  • London: full brogue Oxford in tan, dark brown or black calf, Goodyear welted on the tan.
  • Salisbury: heavy waxy leather wingtip in brown on the M265 last, or black on a commando sole.
  • Braemar: black grain Highland brogue on a leather sole.

Brogue boots

The Cheltenham brogue boot has a storm welt and a commando rubber sole. It comes in chocolate waxed suede, snuff waxed suede, brown waxy leather and black leather, and is built for wet days in the country.

Can I wear brogues with a suit?

A semi or half brogue Oxford in black or dark brown calf works with most suits. Full brogues, wingtips and grain leathers are better with tweed, flannels and chinos.

What is grain leather?

Grain leather has a pebbled surface pressed into it. It hides scuffs and shrugs off rain better than smooth calf, which is why it is common on country brogues.

How do I clean the punching?

Polish builds up in the holes over time. Work it in with a small brush and buff off with a horsehair brush from our brushes and cloths. Fit cedar shoe trees after each wear.
